ARTIST’S BIO
Diane Ahrendt has always had a passion for color—how it creates mood here, how it dances with light there. As a child she found arts and crafts to be a wonderful channel through which she could let her playful penchant for color find free rein.
As an adult, Diane's busy professional life included careers as a Process Engineer at Tektronix and co-owner of Northwest VideoWorks, a video post-production facility. While these jobs took up most of her time, the intrigue that color and form held for Diane remained in her appreciation for the beauty and wonder found in everyday objects; especially glass. In 1997, Diane decided it was time for her glass work to go "full-blown".
Dragonfly Glass Studio is now nestled comfortably in Diane's backyard where—as it was when she was a child—her full-fledged, artistry can come out to play. Equipped with everything she needs to create breathtaking blown and sculptured glass art, Diane finds herself letting the process of glasswork create its own path to fruition…experimenting…discovering. For Diane, every phase of blowing glass holds fascination; from the molten heat that fires imagination to the last breath of life brought to each piece. The result is glass art that is both intricate and explosive… delicate, yet full of life… objects that provide a transparent view into Diane's creativity…while always a reflecting Diane's passion for color.
