Text Box: Rosi Oldenburg was born and raised in Germany.  Rosi loved art even at a young age, but was not able to explore and develop her talents.  Life was not easy in post-war Germany and her family struggled.  However, at the age of 14, she entered a contest to win a scholarship at the Stuttgart Art Academy.  Her drawing was disqualified because the judges didn’t believe a 14 year old could draw that well.  Throughout her adult life, Rosi continued to explore her creative nature by painting in various mediums.  She started painting seriously in 1997 with watercolors, focusing on capturing the personalities of her subjects by including detailed expressions in their portraits.  Since that time she has switched to using acrylics as her favorite medium of choice.  Rosi has no formal training and is completely self-taught.
